The Dual Navy to Aqua Fade Birdseye Maple Custom Snare Drum
This 6.75x14” custom handcrafted snare drum is built from 100% Curly Birdseye Maple wood staves. Birdseye Maple is a classic wood for building snare drums, and this particular piece has some gorgeous featuring and curling. Expect a very versatile drum that has a nice dry crack but can also be tuned to become warmer and fatter. As for the finish, I did a dual navy blue to aqua fade and left the center 1” naked so you could see the beautiful wood. I topped it off with 30 (THIRTY!!) coats of high gloss, super durable 2K polyester clear coat and applied a hand rubbed oil finish to the maple hoops.
This drum has:
offset roundover to 45 degree bearing edges.
a 0.40” thick stave shell
single point chrome lugs and tension rods
hand rubbed oil finished maple hoops
Purseound Custom Pro 24 strand snare wires with cotter pins, allowing removal of bottom head without removing snare contact/placement strips
Trick Chrome throw off and butt plate
Matching air vent grommet
Remo Powerstroke and Ambassador heads.
