The Monkeypod Solid Stave Custom Snare Drum
This 6.75x14” custom handcrafted snare drum is built from 0.85” inch thick Monkeypod staves. Yes, you read that correctly…MONKEYPOD. This is one of the most exotic woods I’ve worked with and it comes from Central and South America. It’s a bit softer than maple and is named for the spiral-shaped fruit pods which the tree bears. I finished it with 7 coats of hand-rubbed oil. This custom snare drum has a huge tuning range and is a beautiful example of this rare wood.
