The 6.5 Inch Padauk Custom Stave Shell Snare Drum
This 6.5x14” custom handcrafted snare drum is built from 100% Padauk wood staves. This drum has not been stained or colored in any way - the orange-ish red color is that of the wood itself. Not a veneer, it’s 100% Padauk wood through and through. Padauk is an exotic hardwood that is about 2x as hard as maple and comes from Africa and Asia. This particular wood has some gorgeous featuring. As for the finish, I topped it off with 18 coats of high gloss, super durable 2K polyester clear coat.
This drum has:
roundover/30 degree bearing edges.
a 0.66” thick stave shell
black nickel lugs and tension rods
black nickel triple flanged hoops
24 strand brass Puresound Custom Pro snare wires with brass ends
Trick black throw off and butt plate
Matching air vent grommet
Remo Ambassador heads.
