The Zebra Piccolo Part 2
This 3.75x14” custom handcrafted snare drum is built from 20 0.6 inch thick Zebrawood staves. Unlike a lot of well-known manufacturers who use more basic domestic wood plies to create their shell, then cover the shell with a final outer ply of an exotic wood, Seven Six Drums are through-and-through solid wood made from the named species. This gorgeous figuring is not a veneer…it’s Zebrawood all the way through to the interior of the drum.
I topped this one off with a crystal clear, glossy, glassy, pricey, pretty, durable polyester clear coat. This custom snare drum has a huge tuning range and is a beautiful example of figured exotic wood. This drum has:
Black Nickel triple-flanged hoops
chrome dual point lugs and black nickel tension rods
brass Puresound 24 strand snare wires
a Chrome piccolo throw off and butt plate
Remo heads
