The 13 Inch Bubinga Custom Snare Drum
This 6.5x13 custom handcrafted snare drum is built from 100% Bubinga wood staves. That lovely color and figuring is not a veneer, it’s through and through Bubinga. Bubinga is an exotic tropical hardwood that is found on the Cote d’Ivoire in Africa. It’s incredibly hard - more that 50% harder than maple, but has a much more complex grain structure and appearance. This hard, thick exotic wood shell translates to extra volume when you really hit this drum.
The finish is derived from a wash of black dye that was sanded off so that it only remained deep in the grain, covered by crystal clear, pricey, pretty, durable polyester clearcoat. This drum has:
offset 45 degree bearing edges.
a 7/16” thick stave shell
handmade offset chrome lugs from Champagne Drums in Canada
chrome die cast hoops and tension rods

DW Mag chrome throw off and butt plate
