The Matte Padauk Custom Snare Drum
This 7x14” custom handcrafted snare drum is built from Central American Padauk. Padauk has a hardness similar to hard maple, but has a much more complex grain structure and appearance. The red color you see here is not a stain, it’s the actual color of the wood. My client requested a super matte finish, so I used 2 coats of ultra durable, waterproof cutting board wax as a clear coat. This custom snare drum snaps, crackles, and pops, and is a gorgeous addition to any drum kit. This drum has:
offset roundover/30 degree bearing edges.
