The "Planet Earth" Zebrawood Custom Snare Drum (available exclusively at baterista-sales.com)
This 6.5x14” custom handcrafted snare drum is built from Zebrawood. This exotic wood has a hardness similar to hard maple, but has a much more complex grain structure and appearance, similar to a zebra’s stripes. I added a navy blue dye to the exterior, which, when combined with the natural amber of the Zebrawood, created a beautiful color palate I’m calling “Planet Earth”. I topped it off with a crystal clear, glossy, glassy, pricey, pretty, durable polyester clear coat. This custom snare drum snaps, crackles, and pops, and is a gorgeous addition to any drum kit. This drum has:
offset 45 degree bearing edges.
a 0.62” thick stave shell
black nickel triple flanged hoops, custom built black and brass lugs from Champagne drums in Canada, black nickel tension rods
steel 25 strand snare wires
a black Trick 3-position throw off and butt plate
